Over 300 youths from Taiwan have embarked on a cultural adventure at a winter camp that opened in Beijing on Tuesday. The camp aims to foster cross-strait exchanges and immerse participants in the rich heritage of Chinese culture.
The attendees will engage in a variety of activities across 17 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, including Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Chongqing, Gansu, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. The themed events cover ice and snow sports, traditional New Year’s customs, and explorations of history and culture.
On the opening day, the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots hosted cultural lectures and cross-strait youth film exchanges at prestigious institutions like Peking University and the Beijing Film Academy. These activities provide the participants with opportunities to connect with peers and deepen their understanding of shared cultural roots.
During their stay in Beijing, the campers will visit iconic historical sites and cultural landmarks such as the Palace Museum, the Badaling Great Wall, and the National Museum of China. These visits aim to enhance their appreciation of Chinese history and heritage.
The winter camp serves as a bridge for youth from Taiwan to experience life on the Chinese mainland firsthand, promoting mutual understanding and strengthening ties across the Taiwan Strait.
