31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival Lights Up Sichuan

The 31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival has officially opened at the Zigong China Colorful Lantern World in Zigong, Sichuan Province. Known as the “Lantern Capital of the East,” Zigong is dazzling visitors with a spectacular display that blends tradition and innovation.

This year’s festival showcases seven uniquely themed areas featuring 12 groups of extra-large lanterns, seven large lanterns, and over 200 small and medium-sized lanterns. Together, they create a vibrant tapestry of color and light, transforming the night into a radiant wonderland.

The event beautifully integrates intangible cultural heritage techniques such as porcelain art, elements of Sichuan opera, and intricate paper cutting. These traditional arts are brought to life using cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, culminating in attractions like the AI-driven mechanical dinosaur lantern that captivates audiences of all ages.

Adding a modern twist, installations featuring popular Chinese anime and mobile game characters offer visitors immersive and interactive entertainment experiences. These contemporary additions provide a sensory feast, blending cultural heritage with the excitement of today’s pop culture.

The Zigong Lantern Festival is more than just a visual spectacle; it’s a celebration of cultural fusion and technological advancement. It’s where the past meets the future, offering a unique experience that resonates with both the young and the young at heart.
