Wang Yi China to Crack Down on Telecom Fraud with Asean Countries

China and ASEAN Join Forces to Fight Online Scams

China is teaming up with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to crack down on cross-border online gambling and telecom fraud. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with envoys from the ten ASEAN countries in Beijing on Thursday, calling for joint efforts to protect citizens from these growing threats.

Recent scams along the Thailand-Myanmar border have targeted people across the region, causing significant financial losses and endangering lives. Wang Yi emphasized that these crimes must be taken seriously, urging relevant countries to take strong measures against the perpetrators.

“China stands ready to work with ASEAN countries to safeguard the lives and property of our people,” Wang Yi said during the meeting. “We must act together to stop these illegal activities that harm our citizens.”

The collaboration aims to address the rise in online gambling and fraud that exploits modern technology to deceive unsuspecting victims. By uniting efforts, China and ASEAN hope to create a safer online environment for everyone in the region.
