Chinese Navy Rescues Ill Fisherman Near Huangyan Dao

A Chinese fisherman is recovering after a dramatic rescue by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy near China’s Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, the fisherman suddenly fell ill aboard his vessel, suffering from a severe gastric hemorrhage. A nearby PLA Navy ship, conducting a routine mission in the area, responded swiftly to the distress call.

“The navy vessel immediately rushed to the scene,” said Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, during a press conference. The crew provided emergency medical assistance and transported the fisherman to a safe location.

From there, a helicopter transferred him to a hospital in Sansha City, in south China’s Hainan Province. Thanks to the prompt action of the navy and medical teams, the fisherman has since recovered and been discharged in stable condition.

Wu emphasized the Chinese military’s commitment to the peace and stability of the South China Sea, stating that such missions demonstrate their dedication to safeguarding lives in the region.

This heartwarming rescue highlights the crucial role of the PLA Navy in providing aid and support to those in need within China’s maritime territories.
