China Media Group (CMG) took center stage on Friday as it held the third rehearsal for its highly anticipated 2025 Spring Festival Gala. Set to air globally on January 28, the eve of the Chinese New Year, the Gala promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture and arts.
Making their debut during this latest rehearsal were four sub-venues located in Chongqing, Wuhan, Lhasa, and Wuxi. Each brought unique performances that highlighted local traditions and modern interpretations.
In Chongqing, audiences were treated to songs and dances rich with the city’s distinctive flair. Wuhan’s sub-venue showcased an eclectic mix of new opera, acrobatics, folk music, and classic characters from films and television. Wuxi connected traditional music with innovative scene interpretations, seamlessly blending historical context with modern civilization. Meanwhile, Lhasa’s venue delivered authentic ethnic performances, highlighting the unity and friendship among people of all ethnic groups.
Observers noted that transitions and arrangements between each act were notably smoother, enhancing the overall flow of the Gala.
In addition to the rehearsals, CGTN launched an interactive event named “Snake Year Dance Fun” across global social media platforms. The event has already seen enthusiastic participation from netizens in 42 countries and regions, reflecting the widespread excitement for the upcoming festivities.
CMG is also set to launch a series of events including art performances, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and program broadcasts aimed at letting overseas audiences immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Spring Festival and the charm of Chinese culture. The first of these events was successfully held in New York on Thursday and will be featured in countries such as Kenya, Spain, Brazil, Australia, France, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.
