Chinese Premier Li Qiang has urged for persistent efforts to combat corruption and build a clean government, emphasizing that these measures are crucial for China’s high-quality development and modernization drive.
Speaking at a State Council meeting on clean governance on Friday, Li highlighted the challenging and complex nature of the current anti-corruption situation. He called for unwavering perseverance in the battle against corruption, stressing the need to implement the strategic plans of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance.
“We must strictly adhere to financial discipline and effectively manage public funds,” Li stated. He demanded severe punishment for corrupt practices, especially in key areas such as finance, state-owned assets, state-owned enterprises, and construction project bidding.
Li emphasized that the leading Party members groups at all levels of government and departments should take responsibility for exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance. He called on them to promote clean governance through deepening reforms and diligently performing their duties.
The meeting was presided over by Ding Xuexiang, Chinese Vice Premier and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Li Xi, Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and also a member of the Standing Committee, attended the session.
The emphasis on anti-corruption efforts reflects the Chinese government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability, aiming to strengthen public trust and support the nation’s ongoing development goals.
