President Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Friendship on 75th Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger ties between China and Vietnam as the two nations celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. Speaking on Saturday, Xi emphasized the importance of deepening strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation to build a community with a shared future.

In messages exchanged with Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng and President Võ Văn Thưởng, Xi highlighted the unique bond between the two socialist neighbors. “China and Vietnam share profound friendship because we are both comrades and brothers,” he said.

Since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have stood side by side in their struggles for independence and nation-building. Xi noted that both countries have learned from each other in advancing socialism, forging ahead hand in hand, and deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi expressed his commitment to elevating the relationship to a new stage. He stressed that maintaining the socialist path has significant implications not only for the two countries but also for global peace, stability, and development.

As the world faces unprecedented changes, Xi urged both nations to remember their original mission and work together towards socialist modernization. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to bring greater benefits to their peoples and contribute to human progress.
