Young Chinese Duo Wei and Jiang Clinch India Open Mixed Doubles Title

China’s rising badminton stars, Wei Yaxin and Jiang Zhenbang, made headlines on Sunday by capturing the mixed doubles title at the BWF India Open. The young duo showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, defeating France’s Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue in straight games, 21-18, 21-17.

Seeded second in the tournament, Wei and Jiang dominated the court, sealing their victory in just 43 minutes. Their performance not only highlights the Chinese mainland’s strength in badminton but also signals a new generation of talent emerging on the international stage.

“This championship is a great inspiration for us,” Wei shared after the match. “We faced a lot of difficulties this week, but we overcame them all.”

Elsewhere in the tournament, South Korea’s World No. 1 An Se-young continued her winning streak, securing the women’s singles title with a decisive 21-12, 21-9 victory over Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong. This marks An’s second consecutive title, following her recent triumph at the Malaysia Open.

Denmark’s two-time Olympic champion, Viktor Axelsen, clinched the men’s singles gold with a commanding 21-16, 21-8 win against Lee Cheuk-yiu of Hong Kong SAR. Axelsen’s dominance reaffirms his status as one of the sport’s top competitors.

Japan’s Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto claimed the women’s doubles crown after defeating South Korea’s Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong 21-15, 21-13. In men’s doubles, Malaysia’s third-seeded pair, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin, overcame South Korea’s Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae in a thrilling three-game match, ending 21-15, 13-21, 21-16.
