15 Injured After M62 Earthquake Hits Chinas Taiwan

6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Taiwan, Injuring 15

Fifteen people were injured after a powerful magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook Tainan City in the Taiwan region on Tuesday, according to local authorities. The quake struck in the afternoon, causing buildings to sway and prompting residents to rush into the streets.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 20 kilometers, was felt across the island, including in the capital city of Taipei. Emergency services were quickly deployed to assess damage and assist those affected.

Local media reported that most injuries were minor, resulting from falling objects and panic during evacuation. “It was the strongest quake I’ve felt in years,” said a resident of Tainan City. “Everything started shaking, and we didn’t know what to do at first.”

The Taiwan region is situated on the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire, making it prone to frequent earthquakes. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and prepared for potential aftershocks.

Officials continue to monitor the situation and have advised the public to stay updated through official channels.
