In an interview at the World Economic Forum, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized China’s pivotal role in advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration with the Chinese mainland, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
“China’s support has been instrumental in our digital transformation,” Aurangzeb stated. “We look forward to strengthening this partnership to drive innovation and economic growth.”
Aurangzeb also discussed how China’s projected GDP growth in 2024 could positively impact their partnership. “A stronger Chinese economy means more opportunities for mutual development,” he explained. “As China grows, so does our potential to collaborate on cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure projects.”
The finance minister underscored the significance of investing in digital infrastructure to empower Pakistan’s youth and foster a tech-savvy generation. “Our young people are the future,” he said. “By enhancing our digital capabilities, we’re opening doors for them to compete on a global stage.”
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a cornerstone of this collaboration, continues to be a driving force in regional connectivity and development. Both nations aim to leverage this initiative to bolster economic ties and promote sustainable growth.
