China has emphasized the mutual benefits of its economic and trade relationship with the United States, stating that cooperation between the two nations serves both their interests and those of the global economy.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed calls from the U.S. for a fairer trade relationship. “China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial,” Mao said. “China does not intentionally pursue a trade surplus.”
Despite ongoing differences and trade tensions, Mao highlighted the significant common interests and potential for cooperation. “These allow both sides to enhance dialogue and consultation,” she added.
Regarding U.S. remarks on tariffs imposed on Chinese goods, Mao cautioned against escalating trade disputes. “There are no winners in a trade war or a tariff battle,” she stated. “Such conflicts do not serve the interests of any party and are not conducive to the global economy.”
The comments come amid ongoing discussions about the future of China-U.S. trade relations, which have significant implications for the global market.
