CMG’s Spring Festival Gala Prelude Brings Chinese New Year Spirit to Madrid

China Media Group (CMG) brought the vibrant spirit of the Chinese New Year to Madrid with its “Prelude to the Spring Festival Gala” event on Wednesday. The celebration attracted a diverse crowd of diplomats, cultural leaders, and international guests, all eager to experience the rich traditions of China.

Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a video message highlighting the global embrace of the Spring Festival. He noted that the festival, added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List last year, has become a worldwide celebration.

“This year’s Spring Festival Gala will showcase China’s vibrant culture through cutting-edge technology,” Shen shared, mentioning CMG’s advancements in “5G+4K/8K+AI.” The gala will be broadcast in 82 languages, inviting audiences around the globe to join the cultural feast.

China’s Ambassador to Spain, Yao Jing, addressed the event, emphasizing the Spring Festival’s message of unity, harmony, and joy. He highlighted how watching the CMG Spring Festival Gala has become a cherished tradition for families celebrating the Lunar New Year. Yao Jing also extended a warm invitation to people worldwide to visit China and experience its rich cultural heritage firsthand.

Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary-general of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, congratulated CMG on hosting the event and shared his New Year wishes. He expressed confidence that the globally recognized Spring Festival will continue to bring people together across cultures in shared celebration.

The event featured captivating performances by artists from Chongqing, including the mesmerizing “Face-Changing” act of Sichuan Opera and a dynamic folk music trio. Attendees were also treated to exclusive previews of promotional clips for the 2025 Spring Festival Gala and the cultural program “Intangible Cultural Heritages of China.”

The “Prelude to the Spring Festival Gala” in Madrid not only showcased China’s rich traditions but also reinforced the universal themes of unity and happiness that resonate during the New Year festivities.
