An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 struck Tainan City in Taiwan region on Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The tremor occurred early Saturday and was felt across the area. There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.
Residents described the shaking as brief but noticeable. “I felt the ground move beneath me, and the windows were rattling,” said a local resident.
Earthquakes are common in the Taiwan region due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area known for seismic activity caused by tectonic plate movements.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and urging residents to stay alert for possible aftershocks.
