Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a special visit to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command on Friday, ahead of the Lunar New Year festivities.
President Xi, who is also the chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended warm greetings to all service personnel of the PLA, the People’s Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces.
During his visit, Xi met with officers and soldiers, acknowledging their dedication and urging them to enhance their combat readiness. “We must be prepared to respond to any emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the holidays,” he emphasized.
Xi also connected with representatives of troops across the military via video link. They briefed him on their combat readiness and mission status, receiving full recognition for their efforts.
The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, falls on January 29 this year. It’s a time for family reunions and celebrations, but for many in the military, duty comes first.
President Xi’s visit not only boosted morale but also highlighted the importance of vigilance even during festive times. His message resonated with troops committed to protecting the nation.
