Cai Xuetong Aims for Gold at Asian Winter Games in Harbin
Chinese snowboarder Cai Xuetong is gearing up to capture gold at the 9th Asian Winter Games, set to begin this February in her hometown of Harbin, located in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
In a recent interview, Cai shared her excitement about competing in front of her home crowd. “Winning gold in Harbin would be a dream come true,” she said. “I’m determined to give it my all and make my hometown proud.”
Cai burst onto the international scene in 2010 at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, where she competed in the women’s halfpipe event as the youngest athlete in the competition. Since then, she has consistently improved, securing the halfpipe gold medal at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Championships in Austria in 2015. She followed up with a silver medal at the same event in Utah four years later.
Her best performance at the Asian Winter Games came in 2017 in Sapporo, Japan, where she earned a silver medal. Now, with the games coming to her hometown, Cai is more motivated than ever to climb to the top of the podium.
As one of 170 athletes representing China at the competition, Cai is set to showcase her talent on home snow. The anticipation is building as the nation rallies behind its athletes in pursuit of sporting glory.
“Competing at home adds extra pressure, but also extra motivation,” Cai remarked. “I hope to inspire young athletes in China and across the world to pursue their dreams.”
The 9th Asian Winter Games promise thrilling action as athletes from across Asia come together to compete in Harbin. All eyes will be on Cai Xuetong as she strives for gold in front of an enthusiastic home audience.
