China’s Qi Guangpu Scores Back-to-Back Golds at FIS Aerials World Cup

China’s Qi Guangpu has secured his second consecutive gold medal at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Aerials World Cup in Lac-Beauport, Canada. After topping the podium on Saturday, Qi delivered another stellar performance on Sunday, leading a strong contingent of Chinese athletes.

A total of six Chinese skiers made it to the finals, with four advancing past the first round. Qi posted the second-best score of 121.24 points in the initial finals, trailing only his compatriot Li Xinpeng (122.57) and Canada’s Emile Nadeau (124.34).

In the decisive second final, Qi outshined his competitors with a total score of 110.56 points. He led all six finalists in aerial execution and form, scoring 5.80 and 13.60 respectively. Fellow Chinese skier Wang Xindi matched Qi in landing scores with 7.90 and claimed the silver medal with a total of 105.88 points. Nadeau took the bronze for Canada with 95.98 points.

On the women’s side, China’s Xu Mengtao, a strong contender, did not advance past the first round, finishing 11th among the skiers. However, her teammate Shao Qi reached the second final and narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth.

Australia’s Laura Peel clinched the gold medal in the women’s event with a score of 102.17 points. American skier Karenna Elliott secured the silver with 87.42 points, while another Australian, Airleigh Frigo, took bronze with 76.85 points.

The impressive performances by the Chinese athletes, especially in the men’s events, highlight their growing dominance in the sport and set high expectations for future competitions.
