China Media Group (CMG) held its fifth rehearsal for the 2025 Spring Festival Gala on Sunday, meticulously refining the much-anticipated show set to dazzle audiences on the eve of the Chinese New Year.
The program showcases a vibrant array of performances, including singing, dancing, crosstalk, sketches, opera, martial arts, and magic. The seamless coordination between the main venue and four sub-venues blends traditional culture with modern elements, promising an unforgettable experience.
One of the rehearsal’s highlights was a heartfelt song by singers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), who extended their best wishes to the GBA, reflecting the region’s unity and prosperity.
Beyond the main venue in Beijing, four locations across the country—Chongqing Municipality, Wuhan City in Hubei Province, Lhasa City in the Xizang Autonomous Region, and Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province—will serve as sub-venues, highlighting China’s diverse cultural landscape.
Known as “Chunwan” in Chinese, the Spring Festival Gala has been broadcast live annually since 1983, becoming a major cultural symbol of traditional Chinese New Year celebrations and a cherished tradition for families across the nation.
This year’s gala will be aired on January 28, the eve of the Chinese New Year. It marks the first edition since the Spring Festival’s inclusion on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, underscoring its significance in global cultural heritage.
