Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the nation’s solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization despite complex global challenges over the past year. Speaking at a high-level reception in Beijing to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, President Xi commended the resilience and determination of the Chinese people.
“In the face of unprecedented challenges, we have demonstrated vitality and a strong spirit,” President Xi said. “We have weathered storms and witnessed the rainbow that follows.”
President Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China’s composed response to global uncertainties. “We have implemented comprehensive measures, overcome difficulties, and forged ahead with unwavering determination,” he stated.
At the reception attended by officials and representatives from various sectors, President Xi extended festive greetings to people across the Chinese mainland, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Taiwan region, and Chinese communities overseas.
Over the past year, China has effectively implemented existing policies and introduced new initiatives to promote economic recovery and growth. President Xi noted significant achievements in technological innovation and industrial development, contributing to stable employment and consumer prices.
“From a global perspective, China remains a major engine for the world’s economic growth,” he remarked, highlighting the country’s role in the international community.
President Xi also acknowledged China’s proactive efforts in dealing with natural disasters and the accomplishments of Chinese athletes on the world stage. “We have injected more positive energy into safeguarding world peace and promoting human development and progress,” he added.
Looking ahead, President Xi expressed confidence in China’s path forward. “Our journey over the past year has been extraordinary, and our achievements are encouraging,” he said. “We have proven once again that no difficulty or obstacle can hold back the Chinese people in their pursuit of a better life.”
“As long as we strengthen our conviction and confidence, confront problems directly, and tackle challenges without hesitation, we will undoubtedly break new ground in reform and development,” President Xi concluded.
