Primates Cash in on Spring Festival Fun at Chongqing Animal Park

Primates Enjoy Chinese New Year Treats at Chongqing Animal Park

At Leheledu Animal Theme Park in Chongqing, southwest China, primates are joining in the Chinese New Year celebrations by enjoying special treats. Keepers at the park distributed red envelopes, known as “hongbao,” stuffed with nuts and red dates to ring-tailed lemurs, squirrel monkeys, black-capped capuchins, and other primates.

The playful animals eagerly tore into the hongbao, delighting visitors with their antics. The tradition of giving red envelopes is a cherished part of the Spring Festival, symbolizing good luck and prosperity. By including the animals in the festivities, the park aims to share the holiday spirit with both its residents and guests.

Leheledu Animal Theme Park is home to over a hundred species of birds and animals, including African elephants, giraffes, golden tigers, silver tigers, and bottlenose dolphins. The park offers interactive experiences, allowing visitors to learn about wildlife conservation while enjoying close encounters with the animals.

As the Chinese New Year continues, the park plans to host more activities to engage visitors and promote appreciation for wildlife. The joyful scenes of primates enjoying their treats have become a highlight of the celebrations, bringing smiles to faces young and old.
