The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China has expressed strong confidence in the growth of China’s trade in the coming years. Despite global uncertainties and trade tensions, Jens Eskelund, President of the EU Chamber, believes that China’s share in global trade is poised to expand.
In an interview with CGTN reporter Xu Yi, Eskelund highlighted the potential for mutual benefits between China and the European Union. “China continues to play a crucial role in global trade. Even amidst tensions, we foresee China’s global trade share growing,” he stated.
Global cooperation faces hurdles due to various geopolitical factors. However, Eskelund emphasized the importance of collaboration over confrontation. “Economic ties between the EU and China are deep-rooted. By focusing on shared interests, both sides can foster growth and prosperity,” he added.
The EU Chamber’s optimism comes at a time when many young people in the Global South are looking toward international trade as a pathway to development. China’s evolving economy and its relationships with global partners like the EU could offer new opportunities for innovation, education, and employment.
As the world navigates through complexities, the message from the EU Chamber is clear: strengthening cooperation can pave the way for a more interconnected and prosperous global economy.
