China Criticizes Japans Semiconductor Export Control Measures

China Criticizes Japan’s Semiconductor Export Controls

China has voiced strong concern over Japan’s recent decision to impose new export controls on semiconductor-related goods and to add several Chinese companies to its “End-User List.”

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce criticized the move, highlighting its potential negative impact on the stability of global supply chains and normal business exchanges between the two nations.

“For some time now, certain countries have been over-generalizing the concept of national security, misusing export control measures, and imposing sanctions on the Chinese mainland’s semiconductor and other industries,” the spokesperson said.

The Japanese government announced on Friday that it would tighten export controls on over ten types of semiconductor-related items, restricting business dealings with several Chinese companies.

The spokesperson stressed that Japan’s planned export controls could undermine the security and stability of global supply chains, disrupt normal business activities, and harm the interests of enterprises in both countries.

Currently, Japan is seeking public feedback on these measures. The Chinese ministry expressed hope that Japan will heed the rational voices from the industry and urged Japan to correct its approach promptly to avoid obstructing the healthy development of bilateral economic relations.

“The Chinese side will retain the right to take necessary countermeasures and will resolutely defend its legitimate rights and interests,” the spokesperson added.
