China Sees Cross border Trips Peak During Spring Festival

China’s Cross-Border Travel Soars During 2025 Spring Festival

China is witnessing a significant surge in cross-border travel during the 2025 Spring Festival holiday. Over the past two days, many ports across the country have experienced new peaks in both inbound and outbound passenger flows, according to China Media Group (CMG).

Since the beginning of the holiday, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan cross-sea passage has handled a total of 333,900 vehicles, with daily traffic volumes reaching up to 95,400 vehicles. This marks a substantial increase in travel activities compared to previous years.

In the first four days of the Spring Festival, border inspection agencies in Shenzhen processed over 2.1 million cross-border trips, reflecting a 9.4 percent rise compared to last year’s figures, CMG reported.

Meanwhile, Hekou County in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, which borders Vietnam, has also seen a peak in cross-border passenger numbers. Many Vietnamese tourists entered China through Hekou during the holiday period, contributing to the bustling travel scene.

The increase in cross-border trips highlights the vibrancy of the Spring Festival celebrations and the strengthening of regional connectivity. As people reunite with families and explore neighboring regions, the festive atmosphere is more lively than ever.
