China Strongly Opposes Us Additional Tariff and Vows Countermeasures

China Vows Countermeasures Against New U.S. Tariffs

Beijing, Sunday — China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the 10 percent additional tariffs announced by the Trump administration on Chinese goods. The Ministry of Commerce stated that China will take necessary countermeasures to firmly safeguard its rights and interests.

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 10 percent tariff on goods imported from China. In response, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced plans to file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization.

“We urge the U.S. to correct its approach and hope both sides can meet each other halfway,” the ministry said in a statement.

This development escalates the ongoing trade tensions between the two largest economies, raising concerns about the impact on global markets, especially in developing regions.
