China Puts Two U.S. Companies on Unreliable Entity List
On Tuesday, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that it has added two U.S. companies, PVH Corp. and Illumina, Inc., to its unreliable entity list. This list identifies foreign companies that China’s government believes are harming its national interests.
According to the ministry, these firms have violated market trading principles by halting regular trade and adopting discriminatory measures against Chinese companies. This move has, according to officials, severely impacted the legitimate rights and interests of businesses in the Chinese mainland.
The decision aims to protect China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests, the ministry stated.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce stressed that China carefully handles matters related to the unreliable entity list, targeting only a few foreign entities that disrupt market rules and break Chinese laws.
“Foreign companies operating honestly and legally have nothing to worry about,” the spokesperson said. “China continues to welcome enterprises from around the world to invest and do business here. We are dedicated to providing a stable, fair, and predictable business environment for foreign companies that follow our laws and regulations.”
