China and Pakistan Pledge Closer Ties for a Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that China is ready to work with Pakistan to advance their modernization paths and build an even closer community with a shared future. In talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Beijing on Wednesday, Xi emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations.

“China and Pakistan are ironclad friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners,” Xi said, highlighting the valuable asset of their traditional friendship forged by previous generations of leaders.

The two countries have supported each other politically, maintained high-level exchanges, and deepened cooperation in various fields, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Xi noted that this partnership sets a good example of state-to-state relations.

Xi reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and combating terrorism. He expressed China’s readiness to deepen practical cooperation, jointly build an upgraded version of the CPEC, and help Pakistan unleash its development potential.

As the two nations approach the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year, Xi called for deeper exchanges in culture, education, and media to pass on the China-Pakistan friendship to future generations.
