Beijing, China—In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday. The meeting highlighted the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, emphasized China’s commitment to working with Pakistan to continue their traditional friendship. He stressed the importance of implementing the consensus reached by their heads of state and accelerating the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
“Exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies are a vital part of our bilateral relations,” Zhao stated. “The NPC is willing to collaborate with the Pakistani parliament to strengthen exchanges at all levels and provide a legal guarantee for China-Pakistan cooperation.”
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s core interests and major concerns. He expressed Pakistan’s endorsement of the three global initiatives proposed by China: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.
“Pakistan is ready to promote interactions between the legislatures of our two countries and deepen the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership,” Zardari affirmed.
This high-level meeting reflects both nations’ dedication to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, fostering a stronger bond that benefits the people of China and Pakistan.
