The ninth Asian Winter Games is set to kick off tomorrow in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. With excitement building, organizers emphasize the event’s crucial role in developing winter sports across Asia.

On the eve of the opening ceremony, the organizing committee and the Olympic Council of Asia held a media briefing at the Main Press Centre. They addressed questions from Chinese and international media about preparations, event services, and highlights of the upcoming festivities.

Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, spoke about the significance of the Games in nurturing athletic talent. “The Asian Winter Games play an important role in helping athletes develop and thrive on the international stage,” he said.

Al-Musallam noted that the Games have encouraged more countries, even those without winter sports infrastructure, to invest in these disciplines. “As time goes on, more teams participate in the Games, which stimulates the growth of winter sports in their countries,” he added.

The increasing participation from diverse nations has not only heightened competition but also fostered a sense of unity and shared passion for winter sports throughout Asia.

As the athletes prepare to compete, all eyes are on Harbin to witness the talent and sportsmanship that the Asian Winter Games bring to the forefront.
