China Opposes Forced Displacement of Gaza Residents, Says Foreign Ministry

China has voiced strong opposition to the forced displacement of people in Gaza, emphasizing that the region is an integral part of Palestine. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks during a regular press briefing on Thursday.

“Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an inalienable part of the territory of Palestine, not a bargaining chip for political games, and certainly not prey for the strong,” Guo stated.

The spokesperson highlighted the severe devastation and suffering that the ongoing conflict has brought upon Gaza. “The international community, especially major countries, should work together to improve the situation in Gaza, not exacerbate it. Providing humanitarian assistance and aiding in reconstruction are vital,” he added.

Guo reiterated China’s firm support for the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people. “We believe that ‘the Palestinians governing Palestine’ is a crucial principle that must be upheld in Gaza’s post-conflict governance. We oppose the forced displacement of the people of Gaza,” he said.

Emphasizing the need for a long-term solution, Guo stated, “China stands ready to work with the rest of the world toward the realization of the two-state solution as the fundamental way forward. We support an early, just political settlement of the Palestinian question, namely, the establishment of an independent State of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
