On Thursday morning, Chinese President Xi Jinping held a grand welcome ceremony for Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Sultan is on a state visit to China from February 5 to 7, marking a significant moment in the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on areas such as trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange. With Brunei and China both playing important roles in Southeast Asia, this visit highlights the commitment of both countries to enhancing regional cooperation.
“China values its friendship with Brunei and looks forward to deepening our cooperation for mutual benefit,” President Xi said during the ceremony.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the partnership between Brunei and China. “We are eager to explore new opportunities to work together and promote prosperity for our people,” he stated.
