Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Beijing on Thursday, reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the two nations and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
During the meeting, Premier Li emphasized the expanding scope of bilateral collaboration, highlighting that the “ironclad” friendship between China and Pakistan has been renewed and deepened. He expressed China’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan to implement agreements made by the leaders of both countries, maintain high-level exchanges, and support each other on issues of core interests and major concerns.
“China is committed to forging synergy between our development strategies,” Li stated. “We aim to jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, advance the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and push forward major projects in roads, railways, and ports.”
The Chinese premier also underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in agriculture, mining, new energy, information technology, and artificial intelligence. He expressed a desire to expand regional cooperation and people-to-people exchanges to promote common development.
Addressing security concerns, Li noted China’s willingness to strengthen security cooperation with Pakistan. He expressed hope that Pakistan would ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions within its borders.
President Zardari acknowledged the enduring support and mutual trust between the two countries. “Pakistan and China have always been there for each other amidst international changes,” he said. “Our friendship has been passed down through generations.”
Zardari affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China in trade, investment, and other fields to achieve common prosperity. “We welcome more Chinese enterprises to invest and conduct business in Pakistan,” he added. “We will do our utmost to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions.”
The meeting signifies a continued dedication to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan, aiming to build a community with a shared future that benefits the people of both nations.
