Xi Jinping Mourns Passing of Namibia’s Founding President Sam Nujoma

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his heartfelt condolences to Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba following the passing of Namibia’s founding President Sam Nujoma.

In his message, Xi praised Nujoma as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the independence and development of Namibia. He highlighted the strong ties between China and Namibia, fostered under Nujoma’s leadership.

“Sam Nujoma was a true friend of the Chinese people,” Xi said. “His contributions to strengthening the friendship between our nations will always be remembered.”

Sam Nujoma, revered as the father of the Namibian nation, led the country to independence in 1990 after decades of struggle. He served as Namibia’s first president until 2005, laying the foundations for peace and development.

The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from leaders across the globe, recognizing his commitment to liberation and his role in shaping modern Namibia.
