Paris, France — At the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris, China’s Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing urged the international community to collaborate on the development and security of artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking as a special representative of President Xi Jinping, Zhang emphasized the importance of AI as a driving force in the new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation.
“AI has become an integral part of global progress,” Zhang stated. “We must work together to deepen innovative cooperation, strengthen inclusiveness, and enhance global governance.”
Zhang highlighted China’s commitment to responsible AI governance, referencing President Xi’s introduction of the Global AI Governance Initiative in October 2023. “China participates in global AI governance with a high sense of responsibility, contributing our wisdom for the benefit of all,” he said.
He extended an invitation to all nations to participate in the 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai, aiming to foster international collaboration and shared advancements in AI technology.
The summit gathered heads of state, government officials, and high-level representatives from over 30 countries, along with leaders of international organizations. Together, they issued a joint statement advocating for cooperative efforts in AI development.
During his visit to France, Zhang also met with French President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed enhancing bilateral relations, with Zhang expressing China’s readiness to implement the consensus reached by both nations’ leaders. President Macron affirmed his commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation with China, promoting peace and development.
