Chinese golfer Li Haotong clinched victory at the DP World Tour Qatar Masters in Doha with a dramatic birdie on the 18th hole. The 28-year-old secured his first title since 2022, finishing the tournament at 16-under par.
Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, Li made an impressive start with back-to-back birdies, extending his advantage to four strokes. However, Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen mounted a strong challenge on the back nine, overtaking Li and setting up a thrilling finale.
On the decisive 18th hole, Li’s approach shot found the bunker. Unfazed, he chipped out to 15 feet and sank a clutch birdie putt to reclaim the lead. “It means a lot. I never thought I could come back in this position,” Li said after his win. “I’m just so pleased I made that putt on the last. I’m guaranteed to celebrate this one nicely.”
Neergaard-Petersen finished just one shot behind Li, taking second place. England’s Brandon Robinson Thompson secured third, trailing Li by three strokes. The victory marks a significant comeback for Li, whose last win was at the 2022 BMW International Open in Munich.
