China Says Its Consumption Boom Offers Opportunities for All Countries

China’s Consumption Boom Opens Doors for Global Opportunities

China’s booming consumer market is creating new opportunities for countries around the globe, according to a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

On Thursday, Spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted the significant growth in China’s consumption during the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake. The festival saw record-setting sales in “guochao,” a trend of merchandise inspired by traditional Chinese culture, as well as increased interest in intangible cultural heritage experiences, the ice and snow economy, and consumer goods trade-in programs.

“We observed a strong demand for imported products in the Spring Festival shopping lists,” Guo said. “More Chinese people traveled abroad, and more international visitors came to China.”

Guo noted that this prosperity in the consumer market reflects not just a rebound in demand but also growing confidence in China’s economic development. He emphasized that with new policies being implemented, China aims to inject greater confidence and momentum into global economic growth through high-quality development and high-standard opening up.

Global financial institutions have released economic outlooks for 2025 that suggest China’s focus on high-quality development is bearing fruit. They anticipate higher proportions of consumption and growth in the service sector, offering vast cooperation opportunities for nations worldwide.
