Harbin, China—In a significant meeting during the closing ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene pledged to deepen cooperation between their countries.
Premier Li emphasized the importance of China and Mongolia’s longstanding friendship. “As friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, our close cooperation serves the common interests of both nations,” he said. Li expressed China’s willingness to work with Mongolia to enhance political mutual trust, strengthen traditional ties, and expand mutually beneficial partnerships.
The leaders discussed aligning their development strategies and policies to maintain positive momentum in bilateral relations. They highlighted potential collaboration in areas such as mineral energy, connectivity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and green development. Li also advocated for increased cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges, particularly among youth, to bolster public support for the countries’ friendship.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene praised China’s successful hosting of the Asian Winter Games, stating it would promote Asian values and amplify the region’s voice on the global stage. He affirmed Mongolia’s commitment to the one-China policy and expressed eagerness to strengthen high-level exchanges. “Mongolia and China are eternal neighbors who have always respected and lived in friendship with each other,” he remarked.
Oyun-Erdene signaled Mongolia’s interest in aligning its development strategies with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. He pointed to opportunities for practical cooperation in economy and trade, connectivity, energy, resources, and infrastructure, aiming to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.
Both leaders underscored the importance of upholding peace, unity, and cooperation in the region. They agreed to practice true multilateralism and work together with other Asian countries to safeguard regional stability and development.
