The 9th Asian Winter Games are set to invigorate the winter sports scene in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. At a press conference held on Wednesday, the organizing committee highlighted the city’s booming winter sports industry and its commitment to green development.
Deputy Secretary General Zhuang Shichao shared insights into the venue preparations, emphasizing sustainability and environmental consciousness. “The venues were all repaired and renovated using the original facilities,” he said. “We infused the concept of green development into them, utilizing energy-saving and environmentally friendly building materials, as well as green and low-carbon building technology.”
The renovations incorporated clean energy solutions and eco-friendly products across various aspects, earning certification from international experts. Additionally, professional venues received guidance from technical representatives of international sports associations, ensuring that the event and venue preparations proceed smoothly.
