President Xi Jinping visited Macao to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its return to China, praising the region’s remarkable achievements over the past quarter-century. Calling Macao “a pearl on the palm” of the motherland, he expressed confidence in the city’s bright future.
“Macao has showcased incredible growth and prosperity since its return,” Xi said during discussions with local officials and residents. “It stands as a shining example of successful integration with the Chinese mainland.”
Over the past 25 years, Macao has transformed into a vibrant hub of culture and commerce. Its economy has flourished with developments in tourism, entertainment, and finance. Residents attribute this success to the “one country, two systems” policy, which has allowed Macao to maintain its unique characteristics while benefiting from support from the Chinese mainland.
“President Xi’s visit and his kind words inspire us to continue building a better Macao,” said Li Wei, a local business owner. “We are proud of our heritage and excited for what the future holds.”
As celebrations continue, the people of Macao look forward to further integration and growth, strengthening their ties with the rest of China while preserving their rich history and culture.
