Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Saturday during the 61st Munich Security Conference to discuss the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of the Middle East conflict. He asserted that responding to violence with violence only perpetuates a vicious cycle and stressed the urgent need to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
He expressed hope that the current ceasefire arrangement would be effectively implemented, leading to a comprehensive and lasting peace. Wang Yi highlighted that the fundamental solution to the Middle East conflict lies in the implementation of the two-state solution, which envisions the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel and promotes friendly exchanges between Arab and Jewish peoples.
“China is ready to continue to uphold justice and play a constructive role in achieving a comprehensive and thorough settlement of the Palestinian question,” Wang Yi stated.
