Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended warm congratulations to African countries and their people as the 38th African Union (AU) Summit kicks off. In his message on Saturday, President Xi highlighted the growing significance of the Global South, with China and Africa playing pivotal roles amid a complex international landscape.
Over the past year, the AU has been instrumental in uniting African nations, vigorously advancing regional integration, and tackling global challenges head-on. Recognizing the AU’s efforts in amplifying the “voice of Africa,” President Xi praised the continuous rise in Africa’s international status and influence.
“I sincerely wish African countries and people even greater success on the path of independence, self-reliance, and development,” Xi said.
Reflecting on China-Africa relations, President Xi noted that the past year has witnessed vigorous development in their partnership. With the successful Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, both sides have embarked on a new stage of building an all-weather community with a shared future. This collaboration places China and Africa at the forefront of efforts to build a global community with a shared destiny.
President Xi expressed his readiness to work closely with African leaders to promote the implementation of six proposals aimed at jointly advancing modernization, along with ten partnership actions. These initiatives are set to bring more tangible benefits to over 2.8 billion people across China and Africa.
