China and Brazil Commit to Deeper Cooperation and Global Peace Efforts

Munich, Germany — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Celso Amorim, special advisor to the president of Brazil, met on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference to discuss strengthening cooperation between their countries.

Wang Yi emphasized China’s readiness to advance achievements in various fields of China-Brazil cooperation. He highlighted the significant meeting last year between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, where they agreed on building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.

“China is willing to work with Brazil to implement the consensus reached by our leaders,” Wang Yi stated. “We aim to promote further achievements in various fields, practice true multilateralism, uphold the core role of the United Nations, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Global South countries.”

Celso Amorim acknowledged the importance of President Xi’s visit to Brazil, noting that it demonstrated the vision of both leaders and consolidated the deep friendship between the two nations. “Brazil is eager to accelerate the implementation of the agreements,” Amorim said. “We are committed to building a fairer and more sustainable Brazil-China community with a shared future and jointly safeguarding international fairness and justice.”

Both sides expressed their willingness to enhance communication and coordination, deepen cooperation within the BRICS framework, and strengthen ties between China and Latin American countries. They also recognized the efforts of the “Friends of Peace” platform and pledged to continue playing a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

The meeting underscores the commitment of China and Brazil, as major global powers and representative forces of the Global South, to work together in promoting world peace, stability, and development.
