The first locally born giant panda cubs in Hong Kong have made their adorable public debut at Ocean Park! On Sunday, just a day after turning six months old, the twin cubs, affectionately known as “Elder Sister” and “Little Brother,” greeted visitors for the first time.
Born on August 15 last year to parents Ying Ying and Le Le, who were gifts from the central government in 2007, these cubs are making history. Now, the public has a chance to help name them! Ocean Park is inviting everyone to submit their suggestions, and the official names will be announced in the first half of this year.
With these new additions, along with their parents and two other pandas, An An and Ke Ke, who arrived last year, Hong Kong now boasts the largest number of captive pandas outside the Chinese mainland. This is an exciting time for panda lovers and a significant milestone for wildlife conservation efforts in the region.
If you’re in Hong Kong, don’t miss the chance to see these cute cubs in person and be part of their journey by suggesting a name!
