Chinese tennis star Zhang Shuai and her French partner Kristina Mladenovic made an impressive start at the Dubai Tennis Championships on Sunday. The duo defeated the seventh-seeded pair, Sofia Kenin of the United States and Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine, with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory in the women’s doubles first round.
Zhang and Mladenovic dominated the first set, racing to a 4-0 lead before sealing it 6-1. In the second set, despite being broken once by Kenin and Kichenok, they swiftly regained control to clinch the set 6-2.
Next up, Zhang and Mladenovic will face the American duo of McCartney Kessler and Clara Tauson in the second round. Fans are excited to see if they can maintain their momentum and advance further in the tournament.
