China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) announced that it expelled a Philippine NC-212 military aircraft on Tuesday after it entered the airspace over China’s Huangyan Dao. The incident was addressed by the PLA’s Southern Theater Command, which organized air and naval forces to respond to the intrusion.
The PLA stated that their forces conducted identification and verification, tracking and monitoring, and issued warnings before expelling the aircraft, in accordance with the law. The military emphasized that their actions were professional, proper, and lawful.
Huangyan Dao, located in the South China Sea, is administered by China. The area has been a point of contention in the past due to overlapping territorial claims. Incidents like this highlight the importance of respecting airspace sovereignty and maintaining open communication to prevent misunderstandings.
The Philippine authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
