China Responds to Us russia Talks on Ukraine Crisis

China Welcomes US-Russia Talks, Urges Inclusive Peace Efforts on Ukraine

Beijing, China — China has expressed support for the recent talks between the United States and Russia aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Speaking at a regular news briefing on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized China’s commitment to promoting peace through dialogue.

"China welcomes all efforts that contribute to a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis, including the recent discussions between the U.S. and Russia," Guo said. "We hope that all parties and stakeholders will join the peace talks process at an appropriate time."

Guo highlighted that China believes dialogue and negotiation are the only viable paths to end the conflict. "We have consistently worked towards encouraging talks for peace and will continue to play a constructive role," he added.

The spokesperson’s remarks came in response to inquiries about the meeting held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday between U.S. and Russian officials. Notably, Ukraine was not present at these talks.

The absence of Ukraine in the discussions has raised questions about the inclusivity of the peace efforts. China urges all relevant parties to engage actively to ensure a comprehensive and lasting solution to the crisis.
