Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi on Tuesday to deepen the relationship between China and Somalia. Wang Yi expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Somalia in implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He emphasized China’s commitment to assisting Somalia in achieving stability and development.
Wang Yi also welcomed Somalia’s active participation in the ten partnership action plans between China and Africa. These plans aim to promote modernization and leverage China’s zero-tariff policy for the least-developed African countries.
Fiqi highlighted the profound foundation of the friendship between Somalia and China. He thanked China for supporting Somalia on the international stage, especially in upholding justice for his country. Fiqi reiterated Somalia’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to any actions that undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
