Former Chinese Vice Premier Zou Jiahua Honored at Cremation Ceremony

Former Chinese Vice Premier Zou Jiahua was honored at a cremation ceremony in Beijing on Thursday. President Xi Jinping and other top leaders gathered at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery to pay their final respects to the esteemed statesman.

Zou Jiahua, who passed away on February 16 at the age of 99, was a prominent figure in China’s political landscape. Serving as vice premier and a member of the Political Bureau of the 14th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, he played a crucial role in advancing China’s economic development, national defense industry, and the socialist legal system.

In a solemn ceremony, leaders including Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng joined President Xi in offering condolences to Zou’s family. Amidst solemn music, they approached Zou’s body, stood in silent tribute, and paid their final respects with three bows.

Zou was remembered as an excellent CPC member, a loyal communist soldier, and an outstanding leader. His contributions have left a lasting impact on the nation. Following his passing, leaders such as Xi Jinping and Hu Jintao either visited him in hospital or sent condolences to his family through various means.
