China has firmly rejected Australia’s recent allegations concerning Chinese naval exercises conducted in international waters near Australia. On Sunday, Wu Qian, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, addressed media inquiries regarding Australia’s claims about the activities of three Chinese warships and their live-fire drills on the high seas.
“Australia’s claims are completely unfounded,” Wu stated. He emphasized that the Chinese naval exercises took place on the high seas far from Australia’s coastline, adhering strictly to international laws and established maritime practices. “Our live-fire training was conducted with prior safety notices issued repeatedly in advance,” he added.
Wu underscored that China’s actions were lawful and did not pose any threat to aviation safety or regional stability. “Despite being fully aware of these facts, Australia has unjustly criticized China and deliberately exaggerated the issue. We are astonished and strongly dissatisfied with this,” he remarked.
China maintains that all its military activities are transparent and in line with international norms. The Chinese Ministry of National Defense urges Australia to view China’s military development objectively and to refrain from making unfounded accusations that could harm bilateral relations.
