China’s freestyle skiing team claimed a spectacular victory in the mixed team aerials event at the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup held at Beidahu Ski Resort in Changchun, northeast China’s Jilin Province, on Monday.
Facing strong competition from teams including the USA, Canada, Ukraine, Australia, and Kazakhstan, China’s top squad showcased exceptional skill and teamwork to secure the top spot on the podium.
Team China 1, featuring Olympic gold medalists Xu Mengtao and Qi Guangpu alongside rising star Li Tianma, achieved a combined score of 345.26 points. The USA’s first team took second place with 317.05 points, while Team China 2, consisting of Chen Meiting, Wang Xindi, and Li Xinpeng, secured third place with 316.72 points.
"The weather today is better than yesterday, and all my teammates performed well, so I was very confident when I went out for the last run," said Qi Guangpu, who delivered an impressive back double full-full-full for 123.53 points.
Li Tianma, fresh from winning the men’s aerials title on Sunday, contributed a strong performance with a back full-double-full-full, earning 122.57 points. Xu Mengtao, who had triumphed in the women’s aerials event earlier, added 99.16 points to the team’s total.
Chinese athletes dominated the World Cup in Beidahu, claiming three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in freestyle skiing.
