Xi Jinping Charts China’s Future at Key CPC Meeting

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a crucial meeting on Friday with the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The gathering focused on discussing a draft government work report to be presented by the State Council at the upcoming session of the National People’s Congress, scheduled to open on March 5.

The meeting highlighted China’s steady economic progress over the past year. Attendees noted that the nation has maintained overall stability while making significant strides in high-quality development and social harmony, advancing the vision of Chinese modernization.

Emphasizing the importance of following the plans laid out at the Central Economic Work Conference, the committee stressed the need to pursue progress while maintaining stability. They called for the comprehensive and accurate implementation of the new development philosophy across all sectors.

The leaders underscored the urgency of accelerating the creation of a new development pattern. This includes promoting high-quality growth, deepening comprehensive reforms, expanding high-standard opening-up policies, and building a modern industrial system. Coordinating development and security was also highlighted as a key priority.

The meeting called for more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to stimulate domestic demand. Integrating scientific and technological innovation with industrial advancement, stabilizing the real estate and stock markets, and preventing risks in key areas were identified as essential steps. The goal is to stabilize expectations and invigorate economic vitality.

Looking ahead, the committee stressed the need to sustain economic recovery and continuously improve people’s living standards. Maintaining social harmony and stability is crucial for meeting the goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and laying a solid foundation for a strong start to the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

The forthcoming annual session of the National People’s Congress will be a significant event where these plans and policies are expected to be discussed and reviewed, charting the course for China’s future development.
