China is gearing up to open its doors even wider to the global community, according to Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Liu emphasized China’s commitment to global cooperation and economic globalization.
“Economic globalization is an inevitable outcome of technological advancement and the growth of social productive forces,” Liu said. “It’s an irreversible trend of our times.”
He highlighted China’s role as a key driver of global economic growth over the past year. Despite global challenges, the country has accelerated the development of new systems for a higher-level open economy and maintained its position as the world’s largest trading nation in goods and the second-largest importer.
Liu also mentioned the significant progress made through the Belt and Road Initiative, a global development strategy involving infrastructure and investments. “China has built international trade and economic cooperation platforms, such as the China International Import Expo, providing broader opportunities for global economic collaboration,” he added.
The CPPCC National Committee, the nation’s top political advisory body, is holding its annual session this week. The press conference marked the beginning of discussions on China’s future policies and its engagement with the rest of the world.
“China will stand firmly on the right side of history,” Liu affirmed. “Our doors of opening up will only open wider.”
